Should America take out North Korea’s Nuclear and Rocket Facilities?

31.05.2009

North-Korea has exploded its second nuclear bomb. It is also testing long range missiles.

A nuclear North-Korea poses a risk not only for its neighbours, but arguably also for everybody else, because it might sell its bomb to terrorists. It would probably be relatively easy for America to destroy North-Korea's nuclear and rocket facilities, but it might have unpredictable political consequences.

What should America do? Please state your opinion below.

America can only attack weak coutries like Afganistan and Iraq.

I don't understand the logical thinking of Americal, they can keep Nuclear bomb but someone else has that for their protection, then Americans are most afraid of that , Why , cos that will not allow US to attack that country ! right !

You americans wants to control other nation and change regimes and this will create more conficts in world.!

Weak states will go nulear whenever they become capable to demonstarte you thet if you threaten us , will bomb you with nuclear weapon !
so solution is stop threating other nations !
taking out nuclear weapons from a country ? Its a soveriegn country , its not a house in new york where police will just go and take out nuclear weapon !

by velayan gov

Under the situation only China can disarm N.Korea of its nuclear weapons effectively.
Because they are the one who feeds them.

Why?

by Scared stiff
For a country who cannot feed thier own people under a crippling regime, why nukes? If they're not for attach, why long-range missiiles? Thier people need so much help, both immediate and through education of the larger world. What possible help can a nuke be if the only use is to blow up the people you need to help you? They're going to sell it to the higest bidder, most probably some nutjob on a jihad. The world has larger problems right now. Shut 'em down.

North Korean communism has benefited the leaders and no one else. North Korea needs food and medicine to stop it's people rioting. N. Korea doesnt have any money (apart from wealth of it's leaders) so therefore they develop nukes to blackmail other countries. This is what many anti-war, carter loving socialists don't understand. N.KOREA WANTS NUKES TO BLACKMAIL OTHER COUNTRIES!!!!!!

Saddam Hussain ripped off the west in the 1990's by stealing money from UN, we cant keep letting these dictators black mail the world.

America + China = NK out for good.

by Logic Peace lover.
America should hold talk with China regarding taking out N.Korea. Most importantly is , China will agree if after taking out N.Korea, it should be in the care of China to supervise a free election. China helped N.korea out of fear that the America will be at their backyard once N.Korea. So, America, if your thats not your intention, go talk with China and take the NK out for good...........

its just armed robbery...

by alby
What NK is doing now to the international community by launching missiles and exploding a nuclear device is exactly the same as a person who walks into a bank with a pistol and demands money from the teller. Its armed robbery. They will only be appeased when billions of dollars of energy and goods is donated to them by neighbouring countries who would rather pay than face the alternative. Last time they pulled this stunt the world paid big money to keep them quiet. We had the money last time, this time we don't. Bad timing by NK to try and rob an empty bank. What will these nut-jobs actually do? Will they really go ahead and launch on SK and Japan. Not likely, we should tell them politely and firmly that nothing will come their way in terms of aid or energy until they disarm. If they are stupid enough to launch they will be completely obliterated within minutes, and they know that.

this is my hobby

by David
I am currently in Seoul, South Korea, as an exchange student. I am not Korean - its just that I am totally fascinated with Korea's situation, and I have decided to learn the language.

First of all, it is not true that China is the one feeding NK (they're helping) -- South Korea gives NK millions of tonnes of food aide for free, as they have been doing for years. Secondly, I think the strategy of asking China to help us disarm NK is fundamentally flawed, as it is China that is controlling NK. Sure, China may issue a public statement of anger towards NK, but behind the scenes China is calling most of the shots. Why? Because China needs there to be a bigger danger in the region than itself, China. And when North Korea collapses, China intends to be right there to scoop up the new territory.

And it will be all too easy for them. The general sentiment here in South Korea is that if NK collapses, then SK doesn't want to absorb them back into a unified Korea. Most people here seem to think that re-unification will entail an economic burden for SK, in the form of helping to build up NK to be economically equal, and they think reunification will impoverish SK. I disagree, but these people are adamant - they dont want NK to collapse, and they dont want to re-unify.

Should the US or UN take NK out? I think it depends on the conditions. At the time, I think the human cost would be too high. However, that human cost may increase in the future, with nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles. I think the the US should maintain a large presence in SK, and be ready when NK collapses. Pushing NK to collapse without loss of life is important, but the end will be the most important. The US, South Korea, and Japan need to be ready to move in and control NK territory before China can push in there, when NK collapses. Ultimately, NK should rejoin SK. But SK will need to be assertive and independent of Chinese "help."

by by nixon
For any government in this world more than building weapons or nukes it is important to empower the people/citizens.Every one wants to establish their superiority through the military might. But certainly this can be done in many other ways i.e., through the economic development and prosperity etc.,At the same time I also have one great doubt why America is trying to be so selfish, for eg : - pouring billions of dollors to pakistan to get their task done. Why cant it help NK instead of imposing the sanctions. The one good thing about the NK the people has so much of belief on their leader. At the end of the day we cannot survive in a closed environment, better living is only possible in a open environment..It's like a human body which interacts with the external environment for food etc..It does not mean dependency but adapdability and trying to be more civilized.THERE NEEDS TO BE A CHANGE IN THE ATTITUDES FOR EVERY ONE.

Who will throw the first stone?

by James
NK is a puppet state of China. We give NK money to be nice, they use it to buy material to build more weapons. NK stepping up its weapons stock pile. NK condemns the world because it sees they are a threat to NK survival. NK has more of its population in the military than most other countries. NK sells weapons to gain money to feed its people. Most weapons they sell are sold to countries that can not buy weapons from the countries that are member of states of the UN.
The easy solution is to send in our missiles and be done with it. However, we would be condemn by the world for doing so. They would say who is next? The world would be on edge from here out. Its either us or them, idea. So, I would say NK will have to throw the first stone. Then there would be a legitimate reason for a retaliatory strike. The first country that NK would send its missiles to is probably SK, then US. Japan would be next. However, it would not be effective unless they stock piled enough to the job. Otherwise, it would be suicide. This would be their thinking on this.
Right now, everything you hear from NK is hot gas. They will not do anything. Right? Wrong, they will sell weapons to other countries in hope that they will do the job for them. This is NK next move. And that's what we need to stop at all cost.

Why the US Should always be the Watch Dog

by Just a Lay Man from Africa
In my opinion, no single nation has natural right to dictate how things must go arround the world. When it does pretend to have one, the rest of the inahbitants of our globe will start to oppose. That is the natural order and that is what is happening between the US and evryone else taht is regarded as fundamentalist or dictator regime. Well I dont mind if the US can do the watch dog thing, but it should not be dictated by the usual "American Dream" life pattern that intends to subdue others to promote own interest. If that is the case, I believe, the Muslim nations like Iran, Iraq, Afgahnistan and the communist N.Korea are not merely fundamentalists or dictators but nationalists that are determined to wave the imposition of foreign (alien) interest upon them. The US has neither that right to strike against N.Korea nor the gut to do so, apparently.

I don't think Obama either is Upto the Task

by A Lay Man from Africa
Well in my opinion the 9/11 attack against the US was being designed earlier than Bush second took over the Oval Office, that is to say it all startrs and very well engineered by the attackers during Clinton's period. The Clinton period ushered a new so called "diplomatic effort" instead of the usual "iron rule". That gave the attackers a chance to plot precisiely how to penetrate inland in the US and get them finally at the heart on 9/11. That can not be done in an administrattion like that of Bush. Bush should be greatly rwared by the US citizens and their lovers all arround the world for he perfectly managed to export the horor out of the mainland i.e. USA to the helpless corners of the world such Afganistan first, Iraqu second who knows what if he was still in office. A soveregin leader, Sadam, was shamefully hunged before the eyes of the world, as if his crimes were more than the crimes committed at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I am a christian in religion and not to the liking of Islam, but I know that it is religion that is driving the political termoil of our time. Obama will certainly creat the space for those who are like minded to attack the "world leader" i.e. the US as he embarked upon the same rehetoric that the Clinton administration once did. If the US wants peace, just it should restrict its ambitions to be the governor of the world!

take over NK?

by Sean (from the USA)
aside from the humanitarian and political implications, NK has a standing army of 900,000+ and reserve troops numbering more than 4million. USA outnumbers them in standing army, but it is also fighting wars in two other countries. the USA needs to calm down and use its words to fight its battles for once.

Wake up

by Peter
Sean from the USA has given some practical reasons for restraint. That, however, begs the question - who gave the USA the right to decide which countries can have nukes? And, as the experience with half a dozen other countries that have acquired nukes after the US -most of them against stiff US opoosition - there is very little the US can do to stop it. Unless the US plans to "take out" these other countires as well . Russia, China, India, Pakistan and even France! all acquired nukes against US opposition. Will the US bomb them too?
Wake up - the world has changed and there are limits to what any country - inlcuding the most powerful - can do to impose its will on others

The u.s are making out in the west media that its the dpnk that are breaking the un regulations on nuclear weapons and testing. and posing a threat to world peace. causing great concern to sk, japan and china with it misslie testing. to which the world should act on.
The dpnk are making out in the nk media that u.s are warlords and are trying to seek control over the east and dont like the fact dpnk are becoming stronger nation, to which they tell there nation we will do what we like and protect our rights as nation and have made threats to any nations who try to stop there programme to which they declare are for defencce porposes only and will act on with milatary action if needs be if interupted or stoped in anyway

my view over this matter is that both nations and other nations with the concern over the matter need to have talks asap. the fact a dpnk misslie test in may fell off the west coast of japans waters has caused growing concerns for japan, japan see the dpnk as a threat to there nation and wants un to act on this. if talks are not put in palce very soon the next 12 months could see a cold war spark with the dpnk using a nuclear misslie agaisnt one of its surrounding nations.

North Korea nuclear issue

by Jaime Saldarriaga
Nuclear energy is basically a resource that can be used for good, for evil or both. Use for evil has to be condemned by the world society as it actually is by international law, isn´t it? Please correct me if I am wrong. So, we also need law enforcement in the world scenario. By whom? By UN I think. Therefore I think what we need is timely action of UN upon urgent needs of the world. Do we have a recent Resolution of UN following North Korea actions? If not, why should US go and get the nukes? I believe US should urge UN to timely and effectively act on this issue. I suspect North Korea would commit suicide if it decides to act against the rest of the world. Anyway UN should enforce international law, I think.

No need - there's a third way. The easiest way to deal with dictatoships and other highly centralized regimes is to go after their leaders. Once "Great leader" is suddenly gone, there is no one to make any decision - and regime becomes very eager to compromise. If we (I mean, civilized countries) allowthe next "Great leader" to establish himself, it's too late.

Unbelievable stupidity

by JingoismUnlimited
The level of stupidity displayed in most of these posts is astonishing. If this is a sampling of general intelligence the human race is doomed. There are some nuggets of truth to be gleaned, but most of the posts are hubristic crap.
Be advised:
1. America will NEVER attack North Korea. Americans can only stomach combat death rates that affect 8 percent of tghe population. An attack on the North Korean homeland would cause more American deaths that would be acceptable. Americans have been lulled into thinking that they have the strongest military. Well, go fight a country with surface-to-air missiles and see what happens.
2. Muslims do not worship Jesus Christ as the Son Of God, but Muslims have more reverence for Jesus that most Christians. Muslims will not use jesus Christ as an expletive, and Muslims never say Jesus Christ without following that with "peace be upon him". Muslims do not believe that jesus Christ is the Son Of God...for that matter, neither does Jesus. he never said he was the son of God.
3. America is much more threatening than North Korea. Which country has actually used nuclear weapons against civilians, and continues to do so? Depleted Uranium munitions are used all over Iraq and Afghanistan.
I could go on, but there is too much stupidity and hubris here to be addressed in one post.
Report offensive post

and furthermore...

by JingoismUnlimited
America's wars for oil in Iraq, Pakistan, and Afghanistan will quickly end once the "enemy" starts shooting down helicopters. That's what happened to the Soviets once the Americans started supplying the Mujahideen (now known as the Taliban) with Stinger surface-to-air missiles.
America is the world's biggest mischief-maker, and it is all cloaked in a hubristic self-righteousness that denies all culpability. The propaganda machine is awesome in its effectiveness. Most Americans refuse to think constructively about foreign affairs anymore, preferring instead to wield the threat of the over-glorified military that has not faced a determined foe since Vietnam. The Iraqi insurgents were rather effective with just primitive weapons until the "surge" paid them to stop fighting. North Korean soldiers are fiercely nationalistic and cannot be "surged". Stop dreaming about attacking the sovereign nation of North Korea and see if you can get Israel to give up the 300+ nukes it has, some of which are aimed at American cities. The "unbreakable bond" between the US and Israel is probably nuclear blackmail. Unlike North Korea, the Israelis can deliver.

The real Problem

by Group55
When you look at the Facts. Kim has multiple wives indicating loose moral behavior. His patterns of suspicion and aggression are in sync with other leaders throughout history who have suffered the same preconditions. The symptoms for this display of behavior is consistent with an individual suffering from late stage untreated Sexually transmitted disease and or diseases with complications. Hitler had an STD. Eva Braun had an STD. Lenin had an STD. Stalin had an STD. So we have an STD with Nuclear Weapon's. I think it is time to accept the possibility that the glorious leader may be suffering from a not so glorious condition and that would explain why so secretive. It's probably North Korea's most closely guarded secret. Why send Al Gore. Send a clinical specialist for late stage sexually transmitted diseases. If he had no such disease then the behavior would not be what we are seeing. China needs to take a more pro active role with their ill neighbor. And Nato should ask for assurances, Until it is verified that the little STD can't push the button.

Having served there several times, the American public should be told just how much we give in FREE Aid to this rouge nation (1980 to 2009). We could have bailed out the Auto Industry more than several times.

If it's true, China and Russia are on board, and agree to allow us to carry out the mission or a CO-OPT mission with them, this wuld show the world we (China, Russia and us) are not going to allow any Nation to conduct Nuclear tests.

Americans do not know what kind of real Government North Korea is! If you get caught with a Cell Phone, Video Recorder you are charged as a spy and shot on the spot.

South Korea wants to reunite with their families. In 1953 when the war ended the country was divided at the 38 parralel separating 10 of thousands of families. We now know it as North and South Korea.

I'm all for the repercussions, Air Stike and Bomb them! Being a Retire Military person I hate to see one soldier killed for any reason. America has gotten weak. Are we to wait around like we did before World War II for Hitler to invade Poland, or the Japanese to bomb Pearl Harbor? Do we learn nothing from History? The military regime in North Korea must be removed, in spite of the attendant suffering of the common people there. So many have criticized God's Word,"The Bible" over the years, yet what was prophesized thousands of years ago, is now happening. People of the world, can't you see what is happening? This is not a show but actually prophecy being unfolded before your very eyes! These events must happen before Jesus Christ comes back to this earth. He is the only one that will bring true peace! Not the faky one called " the antichrist," who will arrive just before Jesus comes, and proclaim to the world that he is the one true God by decieving it. He will come thru the UN. It is time now to make a personal decision in your lives and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Only Jesus can keep you safe from fear and harm. Only Him will protect the world against its destruction; not the false one who will come in God's name. I do not live in fear because I know Jesus Christ as my saviour. North Korea and nuclear weapons

It is public knowledge that USA, China, Russia, Britain, France, Israel, Pakstan and India have nuclear weapons. The 'problem' of North Korea joining the group if at all it is a problem is over blown by the western countries. Some countries with nuclear weapons have all along displayed naked arrogance/ bullying by their politicians. This has been the main drive for those countries that feel threatened to also own nuclear weapons. China ans Russia -the next door neighbours to North Korea dont seem to be as worried as USA. Why should the US be concerned while China and Russia arent. The best way to stop the spread of nuclear weapons is for nuclear powers to stop arrogance/ bullying and the business of making enemies even where they dont exist.

I feel it is very obvious this guy and his successor his son are dangerous and could not be trusted with a firecracker let alone a nuclear weapon. We have tried negotiations for two long. I feel it is time for military action to take out this guys nuclear weapons. The reality of it I feel is we are militarily and financially bogged down because Iraq and Afghanistan wars to deal with a conventional war with North Korea after the nukes were destroyed. We would need a coalition force like what we had in Desert Storm to deal with the ground and air war with North Korea. I don't feel many of the United Nation states are willing to do this, but you never know. One things for shore China and Russia most likely would not support it and have veto power in the U.N.

To a certain extent China and Russia like that we are distracted with this problem it gives them leverage because the are the only countries North Korea even slightly listen to. I don't know but a third nuclear test is just unacceptably and something militarily needs to be done, this guy is evil, reckless and would without a doubt sell his nuclear devices to terrorists for cash if more sanctions are put into place.

North Korea with its fanatical leadership and hellbent on war totally indoctrinated its peopel, where millions are in the army airforce and navy and have been treatning its naighbours for decades is now in a position to take on the world under the umbrella that the US and its allies are threatning the sovereingty of North Korea.
When all diplomatic means have been exhausted, the western world MUST take up arms to destroy this evil empire before the western world has to suffer NUKE attacks from North Korea.
The verbial clock is ticking there is little time left, to do nothing is catastrophic, sanctions won't work.
Decisive action swift and powerfull must be taken NOW!!

Sorry, the US will have to take out NK's military capacity. I agree the US is the bully of the world, and that it sounds strange to folks in other countries that it's OK for us to have things, but others can't. BUT-If you're the bully on the playground, you either fight to stay there or go hide in the bathroom for the rest of your life. To anyone that says"The weak countries will get nukes anyway then use them on the US" please, go ahead and try. Right or wrong, NK has to either fade off the world scene or get obliterated. If I'm wrong, then this is one American that will be totally disgusted that this country backed down. Again, right or wrong makes no difference now.

Double Standards

by Stuart Corrigan
It is nonsensical to tal;k of the US taking out North Korea's Nukes. In 2002 while the US was lying about Saddams ficticious WMD North Korea was openly building Nukes and had a massive arsenal of WMD, the US ignored this! In 2002 Bush put Iran, Iraq and North Korea on his axis of evil. In 2003 Bush invaded Iraq and this is what compelled North Korea to build the bomb (logical really) The US though refuses to say anything to Israel who have 200 nukes and a policy of ambiguity and no weapons inspections by the IAEA. The US with its aggressive foreign policy (invading Iraq for oil) and its nuclear double standards (Israel) has to take some responsibility itself for North Korea's quest for the bomb and start using mutual respect!

What I'd recommend is that the US + Nato (others if they wish to join-in, Chgina, Russia,) should DESTROY NK's 'nuclear plants' 100% lock-stock 'n' barrel, and do a good enough job-of-it, so that it would take NK at-least another 10 years to regroup to the point that it is at right-now! It is unlikely that that would happen, there would be severe consequences for the communist lunatics running that poor bloody country! Give 'their' people half-a-chance and they'll probably do to 'Kim' what the people of Romania did to the equally insane 'Ceuchesku's'.

North Korea's economy is in dire straits, while it's people die of hunger and lack of basic amenities, it's government is still bent on apportioning much of the country's wealth on it's nuclear weapons programme. What would North Korea have to protect when it's most precious resource, the people, are all dead?
On America and it's much hated foreign policy, we have to look back in history where the world much needed America's wealth immediately after World War Two. America provided then, with the added responsibility of being a 'global policeman'. This requires it to constantly regulate what it perceives as international threats, making it unpopular to almost everyone in the world today. Yes, America might be using a wrong approach and also creating the image of a nation out to weaken everyone else in the world, we have to ask ourselves, what are we to do when this country whom we all want to disappear (off the face of this earth) really does? Would life really be better if America washes it's hands off international matters like it did? Would terrorism in the Middle East and Southeast Asia cease? Would North Korea really stop it's Nuclear programme with America no longer a threat? Would the economy get better without the USD? Would drug dealing in South America stop? Would MS-13 and other gangs dissolve? Would the 'Indian elephant' and 'Chinese dragon' continue to rise to economic power? Would the Swine flu pandemic slow down? Would hunger in Africa be solved? Racism? Animal Extinction? Whaling?
There are so many problems in the world, instead of cursing at one country who's trying to do something about it, why not direct them at those who aren't.

Heal first the wound

by Dr. Antonio R. Liao

Should America take out North Korea's Nuclear facilities and reactors, a question that the answer lies ahead in our lips and tongue? We have first to consider our steps, if this move could benefit the whole of the problem or may be just few individuals or groups of people would only gain from such action. Certainly they wouldn’t listen; the very act that this become a trait to all, mean that we have to act collectively, but we have first to consider their side, their reason and their voice, I believe they have more things to say than we say. The best and the very logical instrument is to listen, dialogue with the north Korea and their neighboring friends, hear and invite honestly their leaders in the table for a great respect, a cordially intension of honor. There is nothing bad to have this work of Art, in fact big nations have this facilities....so for a better way and solution is to have a proper avenue for respect and understanding; a prayer also will do special moment of that day to come.

Learn To Spell

by PE
Firstly, I think anyone who can't adequately spell should not give ther opinion on such a matter (that applies to a large majority of the wall posts), Secondly, anyone who considers the USA an aggressive nation regarding nuclear weapons need only look at history to see that that is not the case (the only use of a nuclear weapon in history was by the USA but in response to the attack of Pearl Harbour). I agree that the threat from NK is one of intimidation and that there is no real risk of attack (good point Alby), but I do agree that the issue of China regarding the matter should be adressed, whether it be their involvement in aiding NK or their empirial ambitions. Lets not forget China too is an aggressive communist state (Tibet), but this is regulalry overlooked because of their significant role in trade and political issues. NK is not a threat and can be contained. And to Mike who blasted the Americans and Obama (I'm British by the way) atleast we have an economy. And to JF who is making flippant comparisons to Adolf Hitler you're comparison takes the shallowest and most obvious points of each leadership (the aggressive leader) and tries to unite them both. The fact that Germany and NK are incomparable regarding their facsist/communist political regimes should be apparent and the circumstance in which each regime existed equally so.

I think if we push KJI further into a corner he is likely to do something a little rash. When push comes to shove i genuinely believe NK will launch a counter offensive against who ever is in fireing range. I also think it will try once again take over the south. They currently have 20+ known tunnells into the south that SK calculates can move 120,000 men per hour into Incheon and Seoul.

I think fighting fire with a bigger fire is rather expensive so best way to take out a dictatorship is replace it with another one. Time for a coup and a puppet government put in place.

Firstly, to Mr. Harry, I see you're Korean, but that doesn't make it perfect for N Korea to produce some nuke. You said there is no morality, anyone can fight the other with nukes but, one thing you haven't considered is that a good quantity of nukes can wipe out N Korea in a split second, America as well. What if America does that first. Left to me, since N Korea said attempts to stop its uranium enrichment would be an act of war then, SO BE IT ! Someone has got to stop them. It is not just likely they intend selling those nukes to terrorists, they'll do just that. TO WEAKEN THE STRONG NATIONS WITH NUKES THROUGH TERRORISTS, THEN, THE THIRD WORLD WAR IF THEY WISH. America should take them out fast and first before they take America out.

Kim Wins With Nukes

by William Brand
Nuclear weapons with ICBM delivery removes the American nuclear umbrella from both South Korea and Japan. The USA will not trade LA or Washington for Seoul or Tokyo. Both Japan and South Korea are defenseless against North Korean weapons. They depend of the American nuclear umbrella. The North Korean army will simply march into Seoul without firing a shot. American troops will then quietly slink away with their tails between their legs and Kim will rule an empire of developed nations. Nuclear weapons are also useful for containing rebellion against the ruler. Rulers do not need any popular support if they can destroy their own people simply by pushing a button. A nuclear dead man switch also makes the ruler free from being killed. An army may not fire on their own people but a robot will. If the robot is a hidden nuclear bomb then the ruler is in for life even if he has no support from the people at all.

NK China

by Dipankar
The main reason that enables North Korea to dance on it's toes is China. If only China would stop the help that it is giving to North Korea, then North Korea would be helpless. It's not about possessing or launching nuclear weapons between countries now. It's about the safety of the world now.

America could and can attack NK at will, and I don't think many countries would oppose it. But the main fact is that, can the nations afford another war now? That too a nuclear one? So it'd be better if North Korea took some steps to dismantle it's own nuclear weapons and maintain a friendly and peaceful relationship with the world. And the only country who can make North Korea do it is China.

North Korea's Nuclear Logic

by Cullen
The North Lorean leadship wants to be in the spotlight they want to be important on the world stage. North Korea and South Korea stopped fighting in 1953. Since then North Korea has not had nuclear weapons and the US has not attacked them nor has it come close to attacking them. So why would they need nuclear weapons to scare off the Americans when they didn't have nuclear weapons this whole time and the US never attacked them? Weapons technology is the only thing the North Koreans can seel on the international market that will eran them a lot of money. That is why they want nuks prestige and for earning money. The US is scared of them spreading their nuclear technology not having it for their own defense because the US would never have any reason to attack North Korea in the first place. The US should ignore North Korea and try and limit their ability to export nuclear technology. A war with North Korea would be too costly for the region and in the end have very little long-term impact on the spread of nuclear weapons technology around the globe.

My Humble Opinion

by Denny Magic
North Korea dictators are masters of manipulation... and The USA has been it's huckleberry for years by kissing their rump at every juncture.

There are Good and Great countries in the world that need real help... those are the countries that I personally would like to extend a helping hand towards. Other countries that jeopardize the stability of the world, or... outwardly make it clear that they "Hate Americans" can kiss our ass.

They should get NOTHING from us after a firm cut off date.

When that happens we can then start filtering those funds back to our real friends, and our own people, who often need as much assistance (or more) than these puppet governments who are 'pulling our chain'.

Former legislators keep feeding the US people propaganda that we must continue to offer a helping hand, even to dictatorships... Baloney! Let them ask their buddies over in China to support them, and when the Chinese have had enough of their blackmail and threats... China will nuke them.

Bullies always fail eventually, and we all know this... so what I'd like to see is our new government acknowledge that diplomacy is not going to work for everyone we encounter.

Let's start by acknowledging North Korea for the idiots that their leaders seem to be, then as we go through the list we can start eliminating all of these freeloaders, and start putting some of that much needed capital to work right here at home.

When you can't get you own house in order first,,, then you have NO BUSINESS extending a helping hand to others. Timing is everything. Charity begins at home, so... If China cares... then let them be the idiots that will keep feeding North Korea, and if North Korea falls... China can grab up that poor excuse for land for themselves... good riddance!

Even the Chinese are not that stupid! They are intelligent people who see the future and understand that although they may be reluctant to embrace change, even in their own country... there is no going back now!

IF North Korea actually acquires a deliverable weapons system... then we need to approach Chine to make sure that they have the chance to "Act First", or... with their permission, we will take care of business for them.

As one writer so intelligently said, the USA has the weapons and wants to keep everyone else from getting them. That is a very astute observation... we know what a bad thing having these weapons really is... but we cannot put the genii back in the bottle now. All we can hope for is to be sensible stewards to 'monitor' the rest of the worlds 'insane' dictators.

FOR EXAMPLE:
We smacked Libya down and their leader has "seen the way", and made the necessary changes. That's the kind of guy who should be rewarded, NOT North Korea. We need to set examples of how good earthly stewardship is rewarded when people 'act sensible'. We only have ONE EARTH to share between us all, so let's get a grip and try to understand that singularity as a whole planet of reasonable people.

When the body develops a cancer, doctors cut it our to save lives... there's a message in that statement that we should all pay attention to.

And for God's sake, quite pussyfooting around! The stakes are way too high to delay.

Should America take out Nort Korea?

Korea has already vowed to never give up it's nuclear ambitions and have indeed threatened to
to use them if provoked. Also it has been confirmed by our government that we will not reward
provocative behaviour with any incentives. Friends the handwriting is already on the wall. War is a foregone conclusion and by the way America already has a first strike policy in place that is predicated exactly upon the issues that are being spewed forth by North Korea. We need to implement a first strike before too long and it must be severe, dismantling, regiem changing and thorough. Also the international community should not just stand back and look on, allowing America to appear as the only war-mongers because the North Koreans position threatens their well-being also, not just America's. May I add that if Iran does not capitualate very soon regarding it's nuclear ambitions, then we should pay them a strong visit also.

Diplomacy is a sign of weakness when dealing with terrorists countries. P.S. remove all allied troops from Korea. The Problem

Well you can nuke the whole place but it just wont be right and the EMP produced by the nukes will render all defence systems in the surronding areas useless along with the nuclear fallout will make that area as good as chyrnobel.. major cities around the area will be affected such as Soul, Tokyo, Beijing...you will also be killing more innocent civilians then killing the guys you want dead. The fact that the North Koreans might even have nuclear bomb shelters just makes nuking them pointless... Of you want them dead you need not only America but other countries to support the cause. Once you have support then you can percision bomb the high priority locations such as the rocket R&D faiclity and the uranium enrichment facilities. Use bunker busters for any armored locations with a firebomb/clister bomb mix 10 sec after the bunker buster does its job thus elininating the high priority personnel and facilities with minimum civallian casualitys....Air droping the Special Forces with HALO(High Altitude Low Opening jumps) will do....either SAS SEAL ect....For people who fear about NK launching the US has the Patriot Missile Defence system that will take care of that...Then we can do thing the really old way....blockading every ship or transport leaving or entering NK and have NK as a no-fly zone all rails and roads leading to NK will have checkpoints the rails will be removed so no supplies can be sent in and we strike a deal withe them. Or NK can try and support their country with their next to nothing agulculture. ....

Take Out Dongchang-ni Facility

by Mark
Make no mistake, China, Russia and N. Korea are allies to the end. Perhaps China is pulling the puppet-strings of N. Korea to test what resolve, if any, that Japan, S. Korea and the U.S. will posture.

The problem with N. Korea is that nothing works with them. It's an almost impossible road to deal with them at all. Not only have they blatantly ignored U.N. resolutions and the sounding bells from Japan and S. Korea, they now plan to launch another more technically sound ICBM, again.

What the U.S. should do is to take out N. Korea's Dongchang-ni facility by whatever means, and only if positive reconnaissance shows clearly a launch will take place. Or, shoot down the missile, if they can.

This will send a clear message to N. Korea and China, that the world, especially the U.S., will not tolerate ICBM's in the hands of leaders who threaten the world with nuclear extinction. It will also send a secondary message to Iran.

Doing nothing is what N. Korea expects. China sits back as they know exactly what is going on. Appeasement to N. Korea is what the U.S. and the rest of the world does too much of now. It's time to prepare and to react, if necessary.

Kim Jong Il has already drawn the line in the sand.

If the U.S. does nothing, I would hate to be living in S. Korea or Japan these days. As nobody can get a good night's rest there.

Most of north Korea consist of soldiers, i could be wrong. He also murderd millions of innocent people in the mid 90s or have you forgotten. If you can drop a bomb on Japan, what is so different now.
