Here’s To A Better And Peaceful New Year

by Michael Levin Michael Levin is a New York Times best selling author and a nationally acclaimed thought leader on the subject of the future of book publishing. 30.12.2014

Our poor old world lurches from crisis to crisis:

Ebola.  Ferguson. Syria. ISIS.

So New Year’s most welcome.  Let’s start again

With peace on earth and goodwill toward men.

Putin and Ukraine; a nuclear Iran.

We can’t even get out of Afghanistan.

Yet no matter the weapons our enemies deploy

We may sow in tears but we will yet reap in joy.

Our society’s gone crazy, our world’s out of whack

When the police who protect us are under attack.

And yet thousands of years ago, the wise would intuit

Turn from evil.  Do good.  Seek peace and pursue it.

Authors write books that make the world better

But there’s one book that’s seen as God’s holy letter.

If you open that book, instructions you’ll find:

Let’s all be like love.  Patient and kind.

Despite all the headlines, I still have hope

That our families and leaders will find ways to cope.

So let’s start with a slate that’s optimistic and clean

And create a peaceful 2015.
