Trump is No Gore

by Jeff Schweitzer Scientist and former White House Senior Policy Analyst; Ph.D. in neurophysiology 21.10.2016

In an election mired in Trump’s filth, the most grotesque manipulation of truth appeared last night when Trump’s trolls attempted to equate Trump’s accusation of a rigged election to what Al Gore did in the 2000 election.  So let’s see.  Gore won the popular vote, but the Electoral College vote came down to Florida; whoever won Florida won the race.  But the Florida vote was so close that only 537 votes separated the candidates, which in Florida triggered a mandatory recount.  The Bush campaign hired John Roberts to ask the Supreme Court to stop the recount and declare Bush the winner.  (Yes, the same John Roberts who Bush later named to the Supreme Court and named him Chief Justice).  When the Court, against its own principles of respecting States’ Rights, ruled to interfere in Florida and stop the count, Gore sacrificed his bid for the presidency for the sake of the country and offered his concession.  I urge every American to listen to Gore’s concession speech.  Here it is on YouTube:

Gore was the epitome of grace and honor.  He demonstrated the best of what patriotism is meant to be; his actions should make every American proud.  Even when the system failed him, he accepted the result for the good of the country.  This is the antithesis of the swamp of vile utterances and disgusting behavior that Trump has dumped on the electorate.  To compare Trump’s whine about a rigged election to Gore’s grace is an abomination, a disgusting twisting of truth.  The folks who defend him are the worst of the worst, the cesspool of American politics.
