A new study in the Journal of Biological Chemistry shows that an antioxidant called EGCG, which is found in green tea and red wine, is able to stop amyloid-beta proteins -- known to play a role in Alzheimer's -- from attaching to and killing brain cells in a lab setting.
The violent crime rate has fallen in the US since the beginning of the 90's from ca 750 to ca 450 per 100'000 people per year. In some large cities the fall has been even steeper, in Dallas 70%, in Newark 74% and in Los Angeles 78%. There have been a number of hypotheses of what has caused the fall. One of them is quite unexpected: The stop of using lead in car gasoline. It is now claimed that the fall in lead emissions from cars explains 90% of the fall in violent crime in America!

A UK research team hid cancer killing viruses inside the immune system in order to sneak them into a tumour.
Once inside, a study in the journal Cancer Research showed, tens of thousands of viruses were released to kill the cancerous cells.
Experts labelled the study "exciting," but human tests are still needed.
